NORTH HUB AND NEW LEAFT ATTEND AN EVENT AT THORNTON COLLEGE

The North Hub/New Leaf were invited by Sian Mitchel, who oversees the students who are in their final year of college.

During the event, we had the opportunity to speak with students and their parents and provide information about the support and opportunities available at the North Hub and New Leaf.

We shared photographs of the various activities we offer, giving the students and families a visual insight into opportunities available within our service and how individuals can be supported to take part in meaningful activities.

We discussed how we support individuals to develop their independence, build confidence, socialise with others, explore their interests, and become more involved in their local community.

The event was a valuable opportunity to answer questions, raise awareness of the support provided by our service and help families gain a better understanding of the opportunities available as we recognise that transitioning from college to adult services is an important stage in a person’s life, and providing information at an early stage can help individuals and their families feel more informed and confident about the future.

Attending the event was a positive and worthwhile experience. It enabled us to showcase our day opportunities and strengthen links with students, families, and the college.

We look forward to continuing to promote choice, independence, inclusion, and meaningful opportunities for young people as they move into adulthood.

Thank you to Thornton College for the refreshments and lovely cakes that were available to us all throughout the evening.

From Kath Boden deputy manager, Sam our volunteer (who also attended the event with us) Stuart Heffy and Joanne Yates.
