A Celebration of Sportsmanship and Friendship
The South Hub tournament brought together the Hubs football team members and players from the Skem Men’ s-Aces team. Representing Scotland, England, Ireland, and Wales, respectively, the teams battled it out in a spirit of friendly competition. After a thrilling display of teamwork, Scotland emerged victorious in a nail-biting final against England.
More Than Just a Game
At South Hub, team-based activities go beyond physical activity and fun. They foster a sense of belonging, build confidence, and teach valuable teamwork skills. These experiences empower individuals to become more independent.
We were incredibly honoured to have Ian’s mother, Val, present at the event. After receiving a heartfelt thank you from South Hub, Val generously presented medals and trophies during the awards ceremony.
Celebrating Individual Achievements
The tournament also saw some outstanding individual performances. Mark, our well-deserved Goalie of the Tournament, secured seven impressive clean sheets throughout the day, playing a crucial role in his team’s victory. Congratulations, Mark!
A Star on and Off the Field
Many of you might already recognise Thomas, another awardee. This remarkable man not only captivated audiences at our National Care Forum conference showcase with his video on technology in daily life but also impressed on the football pitch!
Thomas’ infectious enthusiasm and passion for the game were evident throughout the day. He proudly received the Player of the Tournament trophy, eager to share his success with his Shared Lives family.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Our deepest gratitude goes to the Skem Men’s-Aces for joining the tournament and delivering a brave performance. We look forward to welcoming you back for future events!
Honouring a Legacy
Congratulations to the Scottish team, our champions of the Ian Haughton Cup!
Again, a special thank you to Val for allowing us to hold this special tournament in memory of her son. We were all honoured by her presence and sincerely hope this becomes an annual tradition with Val returning to present the awards.
