What is Shared Lives?

Our vision is a kinder, stronger society built on sharing our lives and our homes. We help build communities where everyone lives a full life, regardless of the support they need. We do this by turning Shared Lives care, Homeshare and Family by Family into thriving, mainstream options, with the right structures in place to support and guide people who want to share their lives and homes

Shared Lives Week 2022

Shared Lives Week happens every year in June. During Shared Lives Week, we celebrate the best of Shared Lives and show our gratitude for the amazing work of our Shared Lives carers. A Shared Lives carer is someone who opens up their home and family life to include an adult with support needs. They help people with learning disabilities, autism or both create the independent life they want.
This year the focus will be on the importance of short breaks and day support in Shared Lives.
Across the week our amazing Shared Lives service will be holding a fantastic party for all the New Directions Shared Lives community and hosting a bake off coffee morning on the Thursday Morning. We can’t wait to show you more from these wonderful events.
